About Me
Sohini is a Kathak dancer and learner. Her first Guru was Sri. Sankar Rakshit and Angana Joarder and now she is receiving her talim (riyaz) from Kathak Exponent Guru Smt. Alokporna Guha. Presently she is pursuing masters in Kathak dance from Rabindrabharati University.
In 2018 she has received the 2nd prize from the Dover Lane Talent Search Contest. She has won the first position in both Kathak and Nazrul Nritya from Sarbabharatiya Sangeet and Sanskriti Parishad. In the field of theatre she has received the Junior Scholarship from CCRT (Ministry of Culture.govt of India). In 2019 she has secured first position in kathak dance in Classical Voice of India organised by Sangeet Milon in state level and also secured first position in the All India competition of Sangeet Milon held at Lucknow and also recieved The NRITYASHREE Award for her best performance in the entire group.
She has performed in various festivals like the Gundecha Dance festival, Doverlane Dance festival, Baithaki (Kolkata), Kobi Pronam Festival organized by Ministry of Culture, Govt. of WB, The National Music and Dance Festival (Puri) etc. In the field of theatre she has performed in various stages of India and Bangladesh.
